The running didn't work out for me...Let's just say that my 50 yr old body has seen it's day when it comes to running. Then, we had a vacation in Florida. It seemed that one thing after another was giving me an excuse to stay on the healthy road to my future!
Thankfully, I got back from vaca last Wednesday and saw an email inviting me to watch the success story of a "Super Mom" on the BFFM website. I can't say exactly what hit me, but it was so inspiring that I started writing my new goals and affirmations before the interview was even done! I've got them posted at work and at home and have committed to reading them at least 2x's per day...and more often if needed.
I decided that nutrition has been the greatest lapse in my recent efforts, so I made the decision to limit complex carbs to the first 3 meals of the day, unless a planned reward meal. At the time, my only hesitation was the expectation of roaring hunger...But this hasn't happened at all! I'm on Day 5 and I get a bit of a nagging hunger just before eating. Gee, that sounds normal! I've experienced increased energy and mental clarity.
With the goals some expectations of reaching those goals. In order to combat any future plateaus, I will sneak in a 3rd weight-lifting session in the week to remind my body who is boss and what it is supposed to be doing! I'm already down 5.4 lbs in just these 5 days! I know that we dispose of more initially, but it proves to me that I'm on the right track with my plans.
I traded in my stationary bike because I couldn't work up a great sweat on it...and bought a Vision spin bike that I LOVE! It's heavy-duty and it encourages me to stand for interval training, while huffing and puffing my way to an even healthier cardio state! I will still go to the gym because I am easily bored with one routine and my body needs a variety of exercise!
So, there you have it...The beginning of this fantastic continuation of my journey. Stay tuned to be amazed...One year from now will see me 70 pounds lighter in fat. I will be a lean, strong, fat-burning machine!
No more pix that I cringe at...although I was happy in the one above...in Greece last fall...
