PRW Saturday...oops...It's Monday....

Yep, I missed the date, but things have been taking my attention and time so I'll just get that done today! It really has been something I've been thinking about since I conversed with my friend Debbie about it...Amazingly enough, I've kept it in my forethought and managed to be 4 lbs lighter when I got on the scale on Saturday!!! Oh happy day, but how did that happen?

My PRW is really simple, and relates to the rest of my life as well. Here it is: Why? Because it's the righteous thing to do. For me, it encompasses the source of my strength in all circumstances, which is in my faith that my Father in Heaven is taking care of me and cares what happens to me. So, I want to do the "righteous" thing, which is just a fancy term indicating the desire to do God's Will. I know He's given me strength of body, mind and spirit and it is up to me to do things that strengthen those attributes, or weaken them...

The way this all came to mind for me is frustration with other's unwillingness to do the right thing...Example, why can't "so and so" do "such and such"? Their life would be so much better. Then, it dawned on me that I am "so and so" and the positive behavior can start with me! Rather than seeing the speck in someone else's eye, I can look to remove the plank in my own.

So, I started some meditative reading in the Bible and found so many wonderful passages, especially in Proverbs, that show the benefit of such a change of focus. Here's a couple:
Psalm 55:22Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Proverbs 21:21He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.
Matthew 5:6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

There are thousands of other references, and all of them speak of the blessings of life that a person with this focus will benefit from, including security in all circumstances. It's simple though, and I can look at each situation to determine, "Is this behavior helping or harming me or others?".

Don't get me wrong...I know I won't be perfect, this side of Heaven, but if each of us just tried a bit harder to do the right thing, how could we change the world...You know, a bit of effort by everyone can really make a HUGE difference in the lives of everyone we come into contact with...

So, if I eat a healthy meal and exercise this body regularly, I'll be so much better prepared to serve others. I won't have the escalating physical discomfort that is a result of the wear and tear that the additional fat brings. I have the energy to help others, with a smile. My behavior can help others understand the importance of continuing on the positive road of a righteous effort. Even if I fall down, perhaps one of those I helped will help me back up!

So, with prayers, reading and conscious thought, I go forward in this growth period. It isn't all up to me anyway...I just have to ask Jesus to help me and He always does...He's been there for me before and hasn't brought me this far to drop me on my head!!!!
