Continuing the Journey....

Have had WAY too many family commitments these past 2 weeks and certainly got off-track with my blogging! But, I'm so excited with this phase I'm in and I MUST share about it before I bust!
My gym had posted about a July special for training sessions...I had bought a few sessions a couple of years ago to get started, but haven't had any since then. I have read A LOT to keep myself learning new things about living a healthy life, but have really felt myself feeling less excited about working out...Yes, I really get excited about it! So, this seemed like a perfect opportunity to step up my program...My first trainer is the training Manager and I didn't want to offend by suggesting a different trainer. I had seen a new trainer in the gym who looks like she walked off the cover of a body-building magazine and I was curious what someone like that could achieve with this less than peak body!
So, I approached the manager stating I'd like to sign up for the special and would she suggest the sessions be with her or someone else? She thought for a minute and said, " I think you'd do well with Laura...Have you seen her around?" Yay!!! It was the new trainer! I eagerly said I'd like to....
So, my first session was yesterday. She's a little dynamo that has experienced some nutritional issues herself. I told her my desire to lose some more fat and whip these muscles into all they can be. I've been nearly the same weight for over a year and have had a difficult time pushing through to the next level, so I asked her to help me get rid of 20 more lbs of fat...
After a bit of conversation, we headed out for the gym...Oh my goodness....30 minutes later I was sweating buckets and had only lifted 5 pound weights. She had me doing all sorts of body-weight exercises, which I haven't done before. At one point, she asked if I could do push-ups on a railing and I really wasn't sure but said I'd give it a try! It was amazing to see my abilities in a new arena. I was able to do the pushups, as she asked, and I think I quite surprised her with my ability to fulfill her requests! She encouraged me and kept me moving the whole time...Honestly, it was so much fun! Last night in bed, I was ACHING in my shoulders!!!! Today, I can feel some tightening in my shoulders and such, but I will stretch out later....to be ready for my session tomorrow! I will probably treat myself to a couple more sessions to get to a comfort level with these new types of exercises...
In addition, it's gotten me to a point that I want to have the healthiest nutrition possible...I need FUEL to get me through this and to give me the best possible results of these efforts...I've gone for a couple of my quick-walks today and will do a formal interval cardio session on the stationary bike later on....
I really needed this...I had gotten bored with my workouts and did them to get them done...not because I was reaching for goals. Now, I have those goals in mind and really am ready to reach that new level of success!!!!! I will document each step towards the 20 pound effort. Wow, I'm really happy to be here!

Hugs all,
Margaret

Margaret, how exciting to be working with a trainer, treading new workout territory, and have a new goal to lose 20 lbs. I absolutely KNOW you can do this! I saw a female trainer today and I thought, "maybe I should hire her". It sure helps to have all the positive influences we can get.

Hey Margaret, working with an experienced trainer is the best thing you can do. She will push you past what you think you can do. Intensity. She will show you the correct way to do an exercise. Form. Intensity and form, two of the most important elements for success. You GO GIRL.

Thanks for the encouragement Debbie and Dougal. I think I will sign up for a few more sessions. She has already pushed me beyond limits that I thought possible!
