Well, I think I'm over the initial hurdle of training with the new trainer...My previous post expressed my extreme discomfort and I think that my body is getting stronger and more used to her training.
Yesterday's session was just as grueling, but I noticed my ability to maintain the requested movements until the very end of each set...The "muscle failure" point was so evident, but I was so capable of completing the movements up until that point.
When I expressed some frustration with my general balance issues, the trainer pointed out that I am SO much more stable now than when I started 5 sessions ago...and she's right! While standing on the BOSU ball during the session, my feet were going in crazy circles trying to find the sweet-spot of balance! Last night, I hopped on and got right in a balanced groove, doing bicep curls with weights.
Even my cardio capabilities are improving...and weren't bad to start with! It takes quite a bit more to get my heart rate higher. My trainer stands by pumping up the volume on machines as she keeps my heart rate higher during the whole session.
Yesterday, I prepared 8 oz of low fat milk with a scoop of soy protein powder and put in a cooler. After my workout, I got to my vehicle and drank the deliciously cold nutrition. I envisioned my muscles soaking it's nutrition up.
It really felt like my stamina was better all evening too. The first couple of sessions, it was all I could do to make supper, do dishes and prepare for the next day. Last night, DGD1 and DS2 were over while his DW worked. There was more activity, but I was easily able to keep going until bedtime...and I didn't HAVE to get to bed early....
The trainer asks about my food intake each session and I had to cop to the wedding supper I enjoyed at DS2's marriage on Wednesday night...But, I'm right back on-track and won't take her chiding too seriously! Come on, it was my son's wedding!!!
I'm focusing on the smaller, more frequent eating with balancing protein and carbs at each meal. Of course, I want to choose PLENTY of veggies, fruit and lean protein...The trainer says I can eat plenty of food as long as it's clean. I did notice that I am getting hungrier before mealtimes than I used to. I wonder if it's the increased muscle mass burning up more calories than I used to?
It's an interesting life and I'm encouraged to keep moving forward. Yes, progress is mine even if I can't have perfection!!!!

Hi Margaret,
I have been so busy lately that haven´t seen the latest blogs you did, and also didn´t know your DS2 was getting married. Where have I been? Also am amazed at how well you are doing with your workouts and training..won´t be long before you have it down razorsharp. And don´t feel bad about talking about weight. Am exactly the same way. If I ever get thinner (didn´t say thin), I will probably still wear fat shirts to hide under. Greece is getting closer and closer. You´ll love their typical olives...little black ones that are sorta dried out and strong tasting. I can´t get enough. And that wine.....
Hugs,
Lynda
Margaret, love reading how well you're doing with your nutrition and your new trainer.
I would also have splurged had it been my son's wedding! Congrats!
Thanks for stopping in Lynda and Debbie!
The wedding was kind of decided upon last minute and will be followed-up with a celebration in church and reception in September. So, I hadn't said anything because I didn't know it was going to happen until last Sunday morning!!! They are the parents of my DGD1.
See ya'll...
Stopped by to say that love that you are commenting on more blogs. People just love what you write, and you have become a part of us already. Keep it going. Besides, love hearing about what you´re up to. Good luck Thursday! Bet it´s a lucky one for you.
Lynda
